Head Over Heals
09.02.2005ROCKY START COMES GOOD FOR APRIL LAWYER.
So there I was, several feet in the air, my body in a somewhat super-girlish flight pattern. For a moment everything was silent and time stood still. At least long enough to know that one of the following was about to happen: either A- This was really gonna hurt; or B- Please don’t let me hit that tree!; or C-This is really, really gonna hurt! While I did manage to avoid hitting the tree, escaping the inevitable was impossible. Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts and make sure your tray tables are in their locked and upright positions, I’m ready for landing! OUCH!
Okay, so it wasn’t as bad as a plane crash, but it did hurt nonetheless. Dusting yourself off from your first major crash of the season is never a good feeling!
After this first race crash, April shook off the dust and is now sitting in 3rd overall in the NORBA National Championship Series. April reached the podium earlier this season in the Idaho National stepping onto the 5th place step. At the next National in Aspen, Colorado, April placed second, her best finish in a U.S. National yet. Both Eco Lips racers April Lawyer and Andrew Neethling are now in West Virginia competing in the fourth round. Look for results coming soon.
