The Dirt On Burt's

The Dirt On Burt's

I’ve been asked this question a thousand times: What is the difference between Eco Lips and Burt’s Bees?

I’m making the assumption that you’ve heard of Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. If you haven’t, they make a good natural lip balm, and have been doing it for many years. At this point, you can get it just about anywhere—grocery stores, mass market retail chains, etc.

Getting back on task, the main reason Eco Lips is different than Burt’s Bees is that Burt’s is not organic. This might surprise you, but they don’t use a single organic ingredient in their lip balm. Although they have done a great job of helping to grow the natural products industry, they have not stepped up to the plate and made a commitment to organic ingredients. The positive environmental impact that such a large company could make by switching to organic is huge…they alone could keep millions of gallons of pesticides from ever touching our soil and reaching our water.

So here we are at Eco Lips, the underdogs. Everyday we go to battle for market share. In part, we battle with other lip balm brands, especially brands that contain petroleum and unnecessary chemicals. The other part of our battle is organic education. “Natural” does not mean “Organic”, but “Organic” does mean “Natural”…and it means so much more!

We came up with the term “Don’t Panic, It’s Organic!” to let people know they should panic about non-organic products. Natural is good, no doubt, but Organic is better. At Eco Lips, we have a deep appreciation for Mother Nature, and an unstoppable dedication to organics. Please do your part; read product labels, tell a friend about Organics (and Eco Lips) and search for the magic “O” word on products.

Organically yours,
Eco Steve
