Testing Eco Lips in Southern Colorado

Here are some pictures from my recent climb up Uncompaghre near Lake City, CO. My friend, Vernon Squires and I began at 4 am and were blessed with great weather. We made it above tree line by 8, and as the sun started to hit the slopes around 10, the conditions became dangerous as the mountain began speaking to us. After the third “groan”, the massive layer of snow beneath us compressed and moved us a little…the beginning step of a slide. It took us no time to decide that we’ll try it another time, when the avalanche risk has diminished.

There’s also some pictures of the Colorado National Monument near Grand Junction…it’s like a mini Grand Canyon (but not that mini).
