Grounds For Change

Grounds For Change

Ok, there's a lot of great coffee out there, but this one tops them all: Grounds For Change. I receive a monthly shipment, and it always arrives fresh, on time, and is delicious. Every blend I have tried has been excellent! Here's the scoop on this great company which, like Eco Lips, is creating the new standard of environmental business.
Grounds for Change grew out of the idea that, as part of the global community, it is our responsibility to make our purchase decisions wisely, taking into account the environmental, social and economic impacts of our spending. Coffee is the world's second most valuable commodity behind petroleum and given this scale, the opportunity to make positive change is tremendous.

Grounds for Change is a family owned and operated coffee roasting business located in the Pacific Northwest. We roast our Fair Trade, Organic, Shade Grown coffee to order, by hand, in small batches to ensure that you receive the freshest coffee possible .

All of our coffee is Fair Trade Certified by TransFair USA and our Organic Certification meets the stringent Organic Processor Standards enforced by the United States Federal Government and the Washington State Department of Agriculture. The coffee we sell is also Shade Grown Coffee which ensures healthy habitat for migratory birds.

Grounds for Change coffees originate from communities throughout Latin America and the Pacific. We make it a priority to know exactly where our coffee is grown and that the importers we work with are committed to developing long-term, lasting relationships with small coffee farmers.

A number of community-based programs in coffee-growing countries directly benefit from the purchase of our coffee. For example, farmers in the Penachi region of Peru receive a higher price per pound for their coffee (above the going rate for certified coffee) to help support local domestic violence intervention programs and small business loans for women.

Grounds for Change is a sustainable business. We use 100% renewable energy through Puget Sound Energy's Green Power Program and we offset 100% of the non-renewable energy used in business operations and transportation.
